The Constitution
of the
Grundy Area Vocational Center

Criminal Justice Club

 Article I. Name

            Section 1. The name of this organization shall be called the Grundy Area Vocational Center Criminal Justice Club. 

Article II. Objects 

Section 1. The objects of the Criminal Justice Club shall be:

         To develop initiative and leadership skills.

         To serve the schools, communities, and GAVC.

         To be an honorable member of our communities.

To accept and promote the following ideals:

         To give value to the human spirit and all of life.

         To promote higher standards of excellence in all aspects of life.

         To promote a practical means to form enduring friendship, to render unselfish service, and to build better communities. 

Article III. Powers 

            Section 1. The powers of the Criminal Justice Club shall be to direct, manage, supervise, and control its business, property, and funds.

            Section 2. The policies and actions of the Criminal Justice Club shall be subject to control and regulation by the sponsor and administration. 

Article IV. Membership 

            Section 1. To be eligible to participate in the Criminal Justice Club individuals must be currently enrolled in Criminal Justice I or Criminal Justice II. 

Article V. Officers 

            Section 1. The officers of the Criminal Justice Club shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. 

            Section 2. The President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer shall be elected by the voting membership and shall serve for a period of one year. 

            Section 3. A vacancy occurring in any elected office during any one-year term shall be filled in the manner prescribed in the Bylaws. 

Article VI. The Board 

            Section 1. The Board shall consist of the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Sponsor, and other members enrolled in Criminal Justice II. 

            Section 2. The Board shall define the policies and shall have full administrative authority in all matters concerning the Criminal Justice Club.

            Section 3. The Board shall interpret the scope and meaning of the Constitution and Bylaws. 

Article VII. Revenue 

            Section 1. Each member shall pay to the Criminal Justice Club the sum of five dollars (US$5.00) per annum, payable on or before September 15 of each year, and due not after 60 days thereafter.|

Article VIII. Name and Emblem 

            Section 1. The Board of the Criminal Justice Club shall adopt an official emblem or other insignia.           

            Section 2. Every club member in good standing shall be entitled to wear the emblem and insignia. 

            Section 3. The name, emblem, and insignia of the Criminal Justice Club shall be used for only the purposes as shall be authorized by the Board. 

            Section 4. The official colors of this club shall be maroon, gold, green, and orange.  The colors shall represent: maroon commitment, gold respect, green spirit, and orange honor. 

Article IX. Auxiliary and Incorporated Bodies 

            Section 1. There shall be no auxiliary bodies created or organized within this club. 

Article X. Bylaws 

            Section 1. Bylaws, not inconsistent with The Constitution shall be enacted and may be amended by a majority vote of the voting members at any meeting of the Criminal Justice Club.  No such action shall become affective until approved by the Board of Criminal Justice Club.  Proposal amendments may be submitted by any member and shall be received by the sponsor of Criminal Justice Club at least 15 days prior to the meeting of the Criminal Justice Club.  The sponsor shall then provide notice of any proposed amendments to the Board not alter then 10 days prior to the meeting.

Article XI. Amendment

            Section 1. Amendments to the Constitution shall be made by a two-thirds vote of the voting members present.  No such amendments shall become affective until approved by the Board of Criminal Justice Club.  Proposed amendments may be submitted by any member and shall be received by sponsor of the Criminal Justice Club at least 15 days prior to the meeting of the Criminal Justice Club.  The sponsor shall then send a copy of all proposed amendments to the Board not later than 10 days prior to the meeting.
