On Friday, January 26th, ten GAVC teams traveled to JJC to compete in the fourth annual Robotics Engineering Challenge. Forty GAVC students competed against teams from eight other schools in the JJC District. The students built their robots using the Lego Mindstorm kits, and programmed them using the Robolab software.
Teams competed in several events that challenged the students in both the mechanics of the robots and the programming of the robots. In addition to the robotics competition, students were also asked to solve math and science problems in order to improve their scores.
Our GAVC teams represented us well. We took first place in both the Novice and the Expert Divisions. We also held the 2nd and 4th place spots on the Expert Division. Mr. Falbo's teams, Team 3 in the Novice Division, and White Chocolate in the Expert Division were the overall winners of the competition. Mr. Whitney's CC Riders team placed 2nd, and his Totally Justified Nerds team placed 4th. In the Novice division, Mr. Falbo's Team 2 placed 4th in the Novice Division.
All of the GAVC teams worked hard and competed well, and it looked like they were even having some fun!
