This class utilizes several Google Tools to help with class
grading, organization, and communication. All students will learn
how to use these tools during the first week of class.
The "Professional Development" grade is made up of four
different parts, each worth 25 points.
1. Punctuality
2. Preparedness
3. Time Management
4. Attitude / Initiative
Classroom Supplies Required Every Day
- Pencils and Pen
- One or more sharpie markers
- At least four different color high lighters
- Folder to hold handouts
- Notebook to take notes (notes can be used on all tests)
- Any kind of calculator (can be used for all tests)
- One roll of electrical tape
- One roll of 1 inch masking tape (painters tape)
In the categories I count having supplies as homework. I will do random checks on supplies. If you don't have supplies I have to give a zero in the "Homework" category and adjust the "Preparedness" grade under Professional Development.
As you can see in the categories, Class Cleanliness is 5% of your grade. When you hear the clean up alarm, you are required to stop what you are doing and help clean up. Each student will get a specific job to do in this category. Safety and organization are the two main reasons for this task.
Drinks are NOT allowed near the computers or equipment.
Homework is to be turned in on time unless the student has an
excused absence. All homework should be turned in electronically.
We will go over how to do this in class. No late work is taken
under un-excused absences and a zero will be given.
For students who miss a lot of class, I will give assignments to
try and help you with your grade. If you choose not to do the
assignments I will have to give you a zero on those
assignments.
Sometimes when you enter the classroom, a machine or robot will be wired and / or moving. As curious as you may be NEVER touch equipment that is wired or moving without my permission. Doing so will result in negative points.
Free days are awarded for the class completing agreed upon goals. As an example, we may deal to not have any un-excused absences for four weeks. A free day is a day everyone votes on what to do with their free class period.
I will ask for volunteers to go to the annual Joliet Junior College Robotics Engineering Challenge. There will be no penalty for choosing not to compete.
