Zach Schmitt, (left), a Junior from Morris, donated a used computer to GAVC for the purpose of giving it to a needy family for Christmas because, in his words, “I felt like giving for Christmas this year”. We Care of Morris identified the family for us and Zach, along with Nick Phillips, (pictured with Zach), a Senior from Morris, and myself, resuscitated the used computer. We installed some free open-source software on it, including an operating system, attached a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and Zach and Nick delivered the computer to the family on Christmas morning. The family consists of a single mom and her four children. Zach and Nick taught them how to use the computer and one of the children was finding his way around before they even left. According to Zach, “It went well and the family really enjoyed it.”
