Early Childhood Receives $450 for charity

by Deb Eungard

December 14, 2009

The award ceremony for Christina and Brianna was held on Monday, December 14.  The girls gathered at the American Red Cross to accept their awards and to hand out their donations.  The first portion of the night was dedicated to the teachers who utilized the essay "What Philanthropy and Charity Mean to Me?" as a class project.  Our class was awarded $200 to give away.  We came to the conclusion that the Grundy Volunteer Community Hospice was the right choice.  We handed the $200 check off to Mrs. Joan Sereno.  It then came time for the individual winners to accept their awards.  In third place, Brianna Mooney was given a certificate and a check for $50 to give away.  Bri selected to give her money to the Hospice Program as well.  The first place winner was also from our class.  Christina Zettek accepted her certificate and was given $200 to give away.  She opted to split the winnings between Under His Wings and the Grundy Volunteer Community Hospice.  GAVC is very proud of these girls and the hard work that they put into this project.  Our motto in class is Caring is Sharing and that is what these girls did.  If you would like more information on Joan Sereno and the Volunteer Hospice please visit:  www.grundyhospice.org.
