Computer Maintenance Students Help with Computer Donations

by CMT Students

December 14, 2009

This year, CMT students were given the job of preparing Dell desktop computers for less fortunate families for the holidays.  The company, Vista Learning, donated all the computers to our class for repair. The class thoroughly cleaned the inside and outside of the case and made any necessary repairs or adjustments to the hardware.  Then each student checked to ensure that each computer was in great standards and up-to-date for the recipients. Hard drives were completely cleared of any previous information, and then the students installed a new operating system.  They checked to make sure that each device had the proper drivers and that the operating system was fully up to date. Additional software was installed, including an office productivity suite, several educational programs, and anti-virus software on each computer.  Once all of this was complete, they were ready to be shipped back to the company.  Before returning them, each student signed his name inside the case of the computer.  The first time block class consists of Ana Orozco and Jake Wold from Minooka Community High School, Zach Schmitt, Scott Radke, Jordan Olson, Rex Layne, Martin Maldonado, and Craig Brown from Morris Community High School, and Nate Peters, T.J. Peters, Tim Pierard, Kristian Czaja, and Logan Murray from Coal City High School.

The second time block class consists of Morris Community High School students: Nick Clubb, Alex Holm, Craig Siron, Jesse Bowhuis, and Alexander Bollie.  It also has Minooka Community High School students: Leighton Rushing, Scott Michaels, Jeff Eklund, Nick Kempes, and John Spencer.

The third time Block consists of Brandon Breitwieser from Morris Community High School, Brandon Bozych, Corey Cambruzzi, Kevin Churnovic, Luke Lamaster, and Charles Besenhoffer from Coal City High School, and Adam Sheikh, Jose Ramirez, Kyle Richards, and Ian Erickson from Minooka Community High School. The Computer Maintenance students were happy to help out the families and wish them all a Merry Christmas.
