What is the Director's Award?

by Theresa Maskel

August 12, 2013

Throughout the school year the Grundy Area Vocational Center instructors are on the lookout for outstanding performance.  There are so many talented students attending GAVC, it isn't easy for the teachers to choose Director Award winners for each month of the school year.  Twelve students are selected, one from each of the vocational programs at the Center.

Each month, every program has the opportunity to recognize one exceptional student.  Criteria for this selection include attendance, citizenship, leadership skills, professional attitude, ability in practicum activities and classroom assignments, safety, and teamwork.

Recipients of the Director's Award will be presented with a certificate, a Pizza Hut free Personal Pan Pizza, and a laser engraved GAVC Director's Award pen.  A random drawing will be held on a monthly basis for two $25.00 cash prizes.  Those entered will continue to be eligible for the remainder of the year unless already drawn as a cash winner.  A public address announcement is made in the student's respective classroom and the student's picture is featured on the Center's slideshow.
