Scholarships Available to GAVC Students

Several scholarships are available for GAVC students to apply for. Each scholarship has its own criteria for applying.  Most GAVC students qualify for at least one of these scholarships.  All scholarship applications are due to GAVC, by Monday, February 27th, 2012.

Listed below, you will find a brief synopsis of each scholarship followed by a hyperlink to the application for that scholarship.  Students may apply for as many scholarships as they wish as long as they meet the application requirements.

GAVC Student Activity Fund and Dave Potts Memorial Scholarships
DUE DATE:   Monday, February 27, 2012


The Grundy Area Vocational Center Student Activity Fund, in order to demonstrate their continuing desire to be of service to their community, wish to show their concern by establishing TWO (2) FIVE HUNDRED DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIPS.  In order to honor the memory of former Director Dave Potts, ONE additional ONE THOUSAND DOLLAR SCHOLARSHIP will be awarded to the top applicant.  The scholarships are intended to help deserving high school graduates pursue their goals in life. The scholarship money is for post-high school education, as long as it is provided by a junior college, 4-year institution or technical/trade school.

Rotary Scholarship

DUE DATE:   Monday, February 27, 2012


The members of the Morris Rotary Club #171, Morris, Illinois, in order to demonstrate their continuing desire to be of service to their community, wish to show their concern by establishing ONE $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship is intended to help a deserving high school graduate pursue their goal in life. The scholarship money is for post-high school education, as long as it is provided by a recognized and licensed junior college, university, or a GAVC approved business, technical / trade school.

(Criminal Justice students ONLY)
DUE DATE:   Monday, February 27, 2012


The Sheriff James Olson Memorial Fund, in order to demonstrate their continuing desire to be of service to their community, wish to show their concern by establishing ONE $500 scholarship. The scholarship is intended to help a deserving high school graduate pursue their goal in life. The scholarship money is for post-high school education, for a Criminal Justice student who is majoring in Criminal Justice in either a 2-year or 4-year institution.

Morris Police Benevolent Society Scholarship
(Criminal Justice students & Morris residents ONLY)
DUE DATE:   Monday, February 27, 2012


The Morris Police Benevolent Society, Morris Police Department, Local #79, in order to demonstrate their continuing desire to be of service to their community, wish to show their concern by establishing ONE $500 scholarship. The scholarship to be provided, is intended to help a deserving high school graduate pursue their goal in life. The scholarship money is for post-high school education, for a Morris resident, Criminal Justice student who is majoring in Criminal Justice in either a 2-year or 4-year institution.  It is not intended that the scholarship money be repaid or otherwise constitute a debt of any kind.

Morris Cruise Night Fund - Golden Wrench Award Scholarship 
(Automotive Technology Students ONLY)

The Morris Cruise Night Fund, in order to help a deserving student obtain a degree in automotive technology, wish to show their concern by establishing ONE $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship to be provided,  is  intended to help a deserving high school graduate pursue their goal in life. The scholarship money is for post-high school education, for an Automotive student who is majoring in automotive technology, as long as it is provided by a junior college, 4-year institution or technical / trade school.
