Computer Applications I
Grades: 11 or 12 1 Year
This course provides occupational preparation for careers in the computer applications field through a focused curriculum in application software, procedures, and real-life situations. Students will gain hands-on training in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, graphics, multimedia, digital photography, video editing, desktop publishing, and web page design. Software used includes Microsoft Office 2007, Macromedia Director, Dreamweaver, Flash, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Maya, Acid Pro, and Premiere.
The students have the option of pursuing training sequences/tracks in the following areas:
• Multimedia
• Website Development & Design
• Desktop Publishing
• Office
Computer Applications II
Grades: 12 1 Year
Students will apply and expand their knowledge learned in Computer Applications I, as well as learn additional applications. Students will also be able to continue the sequence/track that they begun in Apps I. Students will participate in classroom situations closely resembling actual on-the-job situations. In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in real-life jobs that will be produced for businesses. Through these experiences, students will gain insight into the work environment, thereby assisting their own transition from school to workplace.
