GAVC Health Occupations Gives Back

Today our CNA/MA Mentorship Program wrapped up a truly meaningful service project in partnership with Grundy County Heroes & Helpers Inc., a charitable 501(c)(3) organization made up of first responders, their families, and community volunteers who dedicate their time to supporting children and families right here in Grundy County.

Each of our students brought in a new, unwrapped toy for boys and girls ages 4–11, and the impact was incredible. These gifts will go directly to local families experiencing loss, trauma, poverty, and hardship—reminding our students that compassion doesn’t stop at the classroom door or the walls of a healthcare facility. 💛

Volunteering is a core part of our curriculum because helping others is who we are. It’s woven into our profession, our values, and our Health Occupations community. We want our future healthcare heroes to understand that serving others—especially the community that continues to support them—is one of the greatest privileges of this industry.

To our students: thank you for showing up with full hearts and generous hands.
To Heroes and Helpers: thank you for the work you do every single day for our community.
To Grundy County: we’re proud to give back to the place we call home. 💙🌟
